Snowshoe Mag Blog: Me and my buns

I love cinnamon buns. Always have. I think it goes back to when I was a kid and our family used to vacation at a cottage in Plevna. We would buy the best cinnamon buns from Mrs. Baker who lived on the hill (or was it Mrs. Hill who was a baker?). Anyhow, I am drooling while I am writing this. Even to this day, nothing tastes better to me after a long run than a gooey cinnamon bun and a dark roast coffee...

  3. Yup, loved every single bite!

Funny, I've thought of a million things since then that I should have said, but was pretty much speechless at the time.

  4. Yup sometimes you just have to shake your head and walk away. We'll be doing a good snowshoe run on White Lake this weekend. Will be thinking of Cinn Buns

  5. We didn't know those cinnamon buns made such an impact on you. It was Mrs. Hill who was the baker, but she didn't put all of that gooey icing on her sticky buns. Don't let anyone spoil your enjoyment of them as we know you sure work all the calories off. Does Sara enjoy them too?

  6. David,
Enjoy White Lake. With the big melt here I don't expect we'll be on snowshoes this weekend.

    Stonehaven,
Unfortunately, Sara has yet to see the light with regards to the pure artform known as the cinnamon bun. I'm continuing to work on her though. Sara's weakness after a long run seems to gravitate more towards greasy homefries.

  7. If you think that those are good you should've tasted your Grandmother Fitchett's fresh made ones. Too bad she didn't pass the skill on to her daughters.

  9. i'm with you on the cinnamon buns for sure. i'm not generally very into sweets but after long runs i sometimes feel like i want to eat a dozen cinnamon buns. i also used to vacation with my family every summer at a cottage very near plevna. we would make trips at night to the plevna dump to watch bears dig through the trash... wish i had known about the cinnamon buns back then.

  10. Geoff,
Yes, the Plevna dump is the Black Bear capital of Eastern Ontario. Rather surprised that you heard of it let alone vacationed there. We rented a cottage on Sand Lake. Just beautiful. Was always funny as we only lived about a 90min drive from Plevna, but were always the only Canadians vacationing there.
